Newcastle’s hot midfield prospect Olivier Kemen is being pursued by French giants Monaco, according to Foot Mercato.

The Frenchman has been continuously linked with a move away from Tyneside this Summer, with Liverpool, Tottenham and AC Milan all keen on signing him. He is increasingly becoming impatient at the lack of first-team football at the club and is said to be considering a move away.

It’s safe to say that Monaco most certainly have the financial resources available to acquire the services of the midfield maestro who has been praised by under-21 manager Peter Beardsley in the past.

Beardsley said: “He’s a powerful lad and obviously has the ability. We look at the other side of it and he has to learn to get the ball back. When he runs with the ball he looks like a proper player. But there are two sides to the game and he has to do both sides.”

Many fans would be disappointed to see Kemen go, considering he is so young and possesses a great amount of potential. Why he hasn’t broken into the first team, we do not know, but it remains to be seen if Steve McClaren sees the Frenchman as a part of his future plans for the club.
