Milan lead Liverpool in Kemen chase

AC Milan have entered negotiations with Newcastle United over the possible transfer of French prospect Olivier Kemen, according to French news outlet L’Equipe.

Formerly of FC Metz, Kemen has caught the eye of clubs like Tottenham and Liverpool, but AC Milan look to be leading the chase for his signature.

He featured for France in the recent under-19 European Championships and it’s clear he has been scouted by a number of clubs around Europe. Though Kemen has impressed for Newcastle u21s, he has found it hard to break into the senior squad, a feat that teammates Rolando Aarons, Freddie Woodman and Adam Armstrong have all achieved.

A lot of Newcastle fans are eager to see him get some first-team action as he has been impressive for the under-21s, and club legend Peter Beardsley has often praised him, and told the Chronicle he was excited by the young central midfielder back in February.

He said: “When he runs with the ball he looks like a proper player – he’s a powerful lad and obviously has ability.”

It would be sad to see a promising young talent leave the club – but everyone has a price.
