Mitrovic due on Tyneside for medical

Aleksandar Mitrovic has bid farewell to his Anderlecht teammates and is now due on Tyneside to undergo his medical, according to HLN.

The Belgian news outlet claim the lucrative personal terms offered by Newcastle swayed Mitrovic’s camp, despite strong interest shown by Porto. The clubs have reportedly agreed an €18m fee.

Sky Sports and Foot Mercato have confirmed that the Serbian is expected to undergo a medical and sign for Newcastle in the coming days.

Reports surfaced last week suggesting Porto had tabled an offer equal to Newcastle’s, but HLN report the Portuguese outfit were not willing to match his wage demands – much-like AS Roma and Benfica, who were also linked with the Serbian hotshot.

It is believed Newcastle want to unveil Mitrovic before the final game of their tour – on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Newcastle remain in negotiations with Anderlecht as they look to complete the signing of 20-year-old defender Chancel Mbemba Mangulu. The young centre-half has been on the Magpies’ radar for some time, but they face stiff competition from Atletico Madrid and Wolfsburg.

Foot Mercato also understand that Newcastle are in ‘advanced negotiations’ to sign Mbemba, and that a €10m deal could be reached ‘within the next 48 hours’, beating PSG to his signature.
