Newcastle United have enquired over the availability of Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani, according Sky Sports.
Slimani attracted interest from Newcastle’s chief scout Graham Carr last summer at the World Cup in Brazil, but the club decided to pursue other targets (Emmanuel Riviere and Ayoze Perez) instead.
It is believed Newcastle are now prepared to follow up their interest as Aleksandar Mitrovic stalls on a move to Tyneside.
However, Sky Sources are also reporting that Leicester, West Brom and West Ham have all made enquiries to the Portuguese outfit with regard to signing Slimani.
Sporting have reportedly slapped a £7million price-tag on 27-year-old, who netted 12 times in 21 league appearances last season, as well as bagging two in the Champions League.
What do you make of Islam Slimani? Is he what we need or should we pursue other targets?
