Marseille reject new Thauvin bid

Marseille have rejected a fresh offer from Newcastle for winger Florian Thauvin, reports the Daily Mail.

The bid was a cash plus player deal from Newcastle, consisting of an £11.9m lump sum, plus attacking midfielder Remy Cabella on a season-long loan.

After signing for £12m from Montpellier last season, Cabella has been very hit and miss for the Toon during his one and only season in English football, but it would be too early to cut our ties with the player.

Desperate to sign Thauvin, Newcastle will reportedly come back in with a better offer for Marseille, who are in well-reported financial trouble, and have been forced to sell off their star players having missed out on the Champions League, including Dimitri Payet and Gianelli Imbula.

Cabella is said to be unsettled on Tyneside following a disappointing first season with the club, and may not feature on their pre-season tour of the USA, reports the Daily Mail.
