Trabzonspor cool interest in Cisse

Trabzonspor have cooled their interest in signing Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse due to the player’s lucrative wage demands, according to football writer and broadcaster Kristan Heneage.

Turkish news outlet AMK had reported personal terms had been agreed, but Kristan has rubbished these claims, though talks have been confirmed.

It is believed the Magpies are prepared to part ways with Cisse this summer, but only if their £10million valuation is met and his replacement is signed before hand.

Cisse has made 109 appearances for the Premier League club, scoring 41 times in the process. Although he hasn’t quite lit the world alight in recent months, it would be sad to see a player of his quality leave.

Newcastle have already made efforts to land another forward, in the shape of Serbian international Aleksandar Mitrovic, but it is currently unclear whether he will replace or partner Cisse. According to various news outlets, the Magpies are closing in on the 20-year-old and hope to complete the deal early next week.

Steve McClaren also has Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin on his radar, but faces missing out on the 26-year-old due to strong interest from other Premier League clubs.

How much would you value Cisse at? Let us know!
