Newcastle are interested in signing 24-year-old left back Faouzi Ghoulam from Serie A side Napoli, according to Italian news outlet Il Mattino. They value him at £7million after an impressive debut season in the Serie A.
Ghoulam played at the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 for Algeria, contributing to the countries unexpected journey to the round of 16, after being narrowly defeated by then winners Germany.
He stands at 6ft2 inches and would be a well needed asset to the squad as the squad us weak in that area. However, Newcastle will face fierce competition for his signature as fellow Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea are looking at the full back. France Football are also reporting that French giants PSG are interested in him.
When asked about the flood of speculation surrounding his future, Ghoulam said: “It’s nice to be spoken about in connection with prestigious clubs.”
He then went on to say: “But frankly, I do not pay much attention. I’m not bothering my head with that. I’m on holiday at the moment – we will see what happens.”
Ghoulam is one of various names being mentioned in connection to Newcastle, with the club reportedly closing in on Georgino Wijnaldum and Aleksandar Mitrovic in deals worth a total of £28 million, as per the Telegraph.
