Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin has said he’ll decide on his future once he’s finished his international matches with England.
The 25-year-old netted 18 times in the league last season, but it wasn’t enough to keep the West London side in the Premier League. As a result of his impressive form, he received a call-up for international duty against Republic of Ireland and Slovenia. When he returns, Austin will have to weigh up his future options ahead of the new campaign.
Austin has been heavily linked with the likes of Newcastle & Southampton thus far, but will no doubt attract interest at a cut-price given QPR’s financial woes. Here’s what Austin had to say regarding his future:
“I feel like I’ve worked hard enough this season for QPR to try to be a Premier League player, but, at the moment, I’ve still got a year left at QPR, so what the future holds, that’s up to the club and my agent to sort out,” the QPR striker said.
“I’ll speak to [manager] Chris Ramsey and [director of football] Les Ferdinand and tell them my thoughts and they’ll tell me their thoughts.
“After these two weeks, I’ll sit down with the club, but I just want to be fully focused on these next two weeks with England.”
