Newcastle managed to survive relegation whilst Hull City went down and now, the Tyneside club is being linked with one of the Tigers’ players. The Daily Star claims Newcastle are interested in defender James Chester.
The rumours state that Newcastle are looking to move away from their current transfer policy and bring in more home grown talent. Charlie Austin and Patrick Bamford are reportedly also on Newcastle’s radar.
As for Chester, a big bid would need to be submitted for Hull to consider selling. West Brom were also linked with the defender and it seems as though Chester will be the most wanted player from the relegated Hull City
Mike Ashley has changed his policy, stating in a recent interview, that the club will invest to improve. They apparently have £34million in the bank and are willing to spend it on players. The club now accepts the needs to bolster their squad and do not want to see the club fall back into a relegation battle.
Bamford, Austin and Chester seem to be three of their main targets, they just have to fend off interest from other clubs to get the signature of these players.
