Kieran Trippier has opened up on his plans following confirmation that he will leave Newcastle United at the end of the season.
The veteran defender will depart when his contract expires this summer, drawing a curtain on a highly influential four and a half years’ spell on Tyneside. He was the first high-profile signing under the Saudi owners.
Trippier arrived at Newcastle from Atletico Madrid in January 2022 for £12m. He’s since made over 150 appearances, winning the Carabao Cup last season.

“I’m really attached to Newcastle. It’s going to be really sad but of course I’m going to follow the club, follow the manager and I can come back whenever I can to watch the games and support the lads.“
The right back has described Newcastle as the place he felt the most at home. He also highlights the club’s Carabao cup win over Liverpool as the the standout moment of his career, underlining just how significant his time on Tyneside has been.
What Next For Trippier?
While Trippier has not specified his next destination, his comments suggest he is still motivated to compete and contribute at a high level. He told club media:
“There’s a few things in the pipeline.”
He added:
“That will get sorted when it gets sorted, I just want to focus on Palace and the remaining games ahead to give my all as I always have for the football club. Whatever happens in the future will happen and I’m excited for that.”
