Hartlepool United manager Ronnie Moore has revealed that he intends to raid Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland for their youngsters this summer – vowing they will not receive better coaching elsewhere.
The Pools do not boast the biggest budget in the football league but are hoping they can take advantage of their local connections to secure some of the brightest prospects in the North-East on loan.
In an interview with the Hartlepool Mail, Ronnie said: “We have a nice understanding with Sunderland, while Middlesbrough also play some of their U21 games here at The Vic.”
“We have had a few players out of Newcastle too and when those clubs are all back in pre-season, then I will be speaking to all of the managers of the big teams around us to see if they can throw a few our way. We are local and there will be a fighting spirit here and the players will be coming here to learn.”
Moore went on to discuss the coaching standard at Hartlepool: “I am a level five coach and you can’t get any higher, Sam is on the level four, so the players won’t get any better coaching elsewhere,” he said.
“We have been there, done it and worn the T-shirt. Just because we are Hartlepool does not mean that we don’t know what we are doing. Birdy, Bingham and Tish all went back better players and our track record is there for everyone to see.
“If I was a Premier League manager I wouldn’t worry just because it is Hartlepool. Their players will be taught the right way here.”
Freddie Woodman and Adam Campbell both enjoyed loan spells at Victoria Park earlier this season and others, including Sam Adjei and Ryan Donaldson, have done so in the past.
