Newcastle have announced an increase to season ticket prices, which has resulted in backlash from fans online.
Earlier this week, Newcastle announced that season ticket prices for the 2026/27 campaign would rise by 5% compared with 2025/26 prices.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Magpies’ season tickets will have increased by 5%.
In a statement on the club’s website, Newcastle CEO David Hopkinson said prices have been increased to help the team.
‘We fully understand this will not be popular news, and it is not a decision we take lightly.
‘Without making responsible increases, we cannot continue progressing or competing at the level we aspire to.’
In the letter to supporters, the club also announced plans to install audio systems, upgraded kiosks, enhanced seating and more visible screens to improve the matchday experience.
Compared with pre covid prices, the cost to attend games at St James Park has grown substantially.

Last week, UEFA released their latest financial reports, revealing Newcastle have generated €141 million in 2025, a €50 million euro increase compared to 2024.
These latest figures put Newcastle ahead of European giants like Juventus and Atletico Madrid in revenue growth.
Combined with the ownership’s reported wealth, an estimated worth of £489 billion, the price rise has left a sour taste among many fans.
Supporters on X have been highly critical of the club’s decision to continue raising ticket prices.
One supporter, @BNWARMY_, believes that these changes could gradually replace long-standing fans who have been going to St James Park for years.
While @marty_lawrance doesn’t agree with the club’s stance to ‘enhance the matchday experience’.
Following the announcement, the Newcastle United fan advisory board said they are ‘disappointed the club has decided to go ahead with the increase.’
Prices are also set to rise for the Premium bar, with seats increasing by 15%. Meanwhile, disability ticket discounts are being slashed from 50% to 25%.
With further announcements regarding the clubs long term stadiums plans expected to come later this year, many in the Toon Army may fear they increase in season ticket prices could continue in the coming seasons.
