Newcastle United have agreed a season-long loan deal for Barcelona youngster Sandro Ramirez, according to Marca.
Injuries to a number of the senior squad, as well as Luis Suarez’s lengthy ban, at the start of the season, saw the 19-year-old, and his Barcelona B teammate Munir El Haddadi, break into Barcelona’s first-team. Sandro couldn’t have hoped for a better La Liga debut – scoring the only goal of the game to take the three points at Villarreal. Yet, once Suarez returned from his suspension, Sandro dropped back down to Barcelona B in order to gain more first-team football.
The Catalan giants have decided sending Sandro out on loan next season would be the best for his development, in a similar way to Gerard Deulofeu – who spent last season at Everton. His agent, Giles Carvajal, has been in discussions with Newcastle’s representatives for the past few days and they have now agreed a season-long loan move for the Spanish U21 international.
Newcastle hope the Spanish U21 international can emulate the success of fellow compatriot Ayoze Perez, who arrived on Tyneside last summer with little hype surrounding his transfer. Several months on and, following a string of top drawer performances in the Premier League, the former-Tenerife striker is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League.
As the Magpies preparing for a mass overhaul this summer, Mike Ashley will attempt to cost-cut by exploiting the loan market, which he has previously done with Loic Remy, Luuk de Jong and Facundo Ferreyra in the past two seasons.
