Haris Vuckic will look to force a move away from St James’ Park this summer, in search of first-team football, with Nottingham Forest joining a string of potential suitors chasing his signature, according to the Daily Mail.
Having begun to stagnate on the fringes of Newcastle’s first-team, Haris Vuckic joined Rangers on loan back in January as part of Mike Ashley’s attempts to tighten his grip on the Scottish club. Although his emergency loans saw a black cloud engulf the Ibrox, Vuckic has been the ray of sunlight through the gloom to bring hope back to the Gers fans.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed the best goalscoring form of his career whilst out on loan at Rangers – netting nine times in 17 appearances – to boost their promotion bid.
When asked about his fine goalscoring exploits with Rangers, the Slovenian striker responded: “I had only scored one goal for Newcastle and a few here and there for other clubs before I joined Rangers.”
“But here I have scored nine goals, most of them with my left foot. I have also scored eight goals at Ibrox. I like the space I have at Ibrox. The pitch is very wide and large and the playing surface is always in very good condition. I think that helps bring out the best in me.
“When I go to the other grounds around Scotland, I don’t have as much room to manoeuvre because the stadiums are smaller and the pitches are far tighter but, that is not the case at Ibrox. I have far more space so I can drive forward with the ball at my feet and position myself to score.”
With just one year remaining on his current contract, Vuckic will press for a permanent move away from Newcastle this summer but, due to Rangers’ current financial position, the Scottish club are unlikely to table an offer Lee Charnley deems acceptable. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are keen on bolster their attacking options this summer with Vuckic topping their wish-list but, due to their transfer embargo, an offer may not be forthcoming. As it stands, they are waiting for their restrctions to be lifted.
