Journalists laud ‘fantastic’ Burn v Brighton

Newcastle United made it five wins out of their last six Premier League games with a 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon and Dan Burn was one of many top performers against his former club.

The 29-year-old has only been at Newcastle for five weeks after leaving Brighton in January but is making a real impact at St James’ Park and was lauded by journalists for another solid showing.

Jordan Cronin of Newcastle World gave Burn a player rating of 8/10, calling him a ‘rock’ for last-ditch clearances and ‘a real leader’ for being so vocal on the pitch. Lee Ryder of Chronicle Live gave the 29-year-old a player rating of 9/10 and called him ‘fantastic’ for how dominant he was in the air.

Grey Whitebloom of 90min gave the uncapped Englishman a player rating of 7/10 and noted how well he did heading the ball away countless times to thwart his former club. Dominic Schurr of Shields Gazette gave Burn a player rating of 8/10 and said he was ‘important’ to keep Brighton quiet.

Against Brighton, Burn played for 90 minutes, had 34 touches, won four aerial duels, completed 60% of his 20 passes, made four interceptions, blocked two shots and made six clearances. He’s made four appearances since joining Newcastle, winning three and drawing one, keeping two clean sheets.
