Fans on social media praise ‘excellent’ Kieran Trippier for ‘fantastic’ showing

Newcastle United enjoyed a 1-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday afternoon and Kieran Trippier was one of many players to shine at Elland Road, earning himself a player rating of 8/10 Chronicle Live.

The 31-year-old was effective in both penalty areas, turning over possession more than any of his teammates while whipping in more accurate crosses than his teammates too, so fans on social media praised his performance.

Against Leeds, Trippier played for 90 minutes, had 57 touches, won two aerial duels, completed 70.8% of his 24 passes, whipped in four crosses with 75% finding a teammate, made three tackles, found a teammate with 50% of his long-range passes, had three interceptions, made four clearances and won one freekick.

The England international has made three appearances for Newcastle since joining on a two-and-a-half year deal from Atletico Madrid, amassing 270 minutes of football. Trippier hasn’t long been in the North-East but is making a big impact on the pitch.

Newcastle have picked up four points from Trippier’s first two league games, conceding just one goal.

In other news, fans on social media laud ‘class’ Martin Dubravka for ‘excellent’ performance

matchday.
