Newcastle United winger Park Seung-soo has won Asian Games gold as part of the South Korea squad that beat Japan 1-0 in Saturday’s final.
Swansea City’s Eom Ji-sung scored the decisive goal at Toyota Stadium, securing a fourth consecutive men’s football title for South Korea.
According to AFP’s report of the final, Eom struck on the hour before Japan hit the post with a late chance.
Park began the match among the substitutes, as confirmed by Yonhap’s team-news report.

The result completes South Korea’s successful defence of the title and gives Park a major international honour during his Newcastle development.
The Magpies confirmed his selection for the tournament in July, with the teenage winger joining an under-23 squad.
South Korea had secured their place in the final by beating China 2-1 on Wednesday. Park was an unused substitute in that semi-final.
Saturday’s victory adds another gold to South Korea’s run following their triumphs at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 editions, with the latter tournament held in 2023.
For Newcastle, the immediate significance is a young player finishing his international assignment as part of a title-winning squad. His next challenge is to build on that experience when he returns to club football.
