Newcastle United Women duo Martha Thomas and Beth Lumsden have earned nominations for September’s WSL2 Player of the Month after helping Tanya Oxtoby’s side win their opening four league matches.
Newcastle confirmed the shortlist on Friday, with supporters able to vote until 10am BST on Monday, 5 October.
Thomas leads the division’s scoring chart with four goals and has also supplied an assist. Lumsden has contributed two goals and two assists in four appearances.
Between them, they have scored six of Newcastle’s 11 league goals, giving the promotion hopefuls a productive attacking partnership.
Newcastle Women player of the month nominees: how to vote
Southampton’s Megan Collett and Sunderland’s Katy Watson complete the four-player shortlist.
Supporters can back Thomas or Lumsden through the official WSL2 Player of the Month voting page.
The nomination continues an encouraging spell for Thomas, who recently earned a Scotland recall after her Newcastle start. She is back in the international squad for October’s World Cup qualifying matches against Czechia.
Newcastle’s immediate priority is maintaining their league record when they visit Durham at Maiden Castle on Sunday, 4 October.
After Wednesday’s cup defeat at Aston Villa, Oxtoby’s selection for the Durham derby will show how she plans to manage the final match of a busy week.
