Yoane Wissa will have the opportunity to continue his impressive international scoring record when DR Congo face Zimbabwe on Monday.
The Newcastle United striker goes into the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier having already found the net during the current international break.
Wissa scored in DR Congo’s 2-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea on Thursday, with Read Newcastle covering his latest goal on international duty.
That strike continued an excellent run for the 30-year-old.
Yoane Wissa chasing another DR Congo goal
Newcastle’s official international update states that Wissa could score his eighth goal in his last 12 international appearances when DR Congo visit Zimbabwe.
The match at the National Sports Stadium in Harare kicks off at 5pm BST, with CAF confirming the fixture as part of the second round of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.
Wissa’s form will be particularly encouraging for Matthias Jaissle ahead of Newcastle’s return to Premier League action.
The forward has carried his club form onto the international stage and another productive display would strengthen his case to remain a central part of Jaissle’s attack.
Newcastle supporters can follow Wissa and the rest of the players away with their countries through Read Newcastle’s international tracker.
DR Congo opened their qualifying campaign with three points and another victory in Harare would strengthen their early position in Group E.
For Newcastle, the priority will be seeing Wissa maintain his scoring touch and return to Tyneside fit.
