With merely weeks left in the summer transfer window, Newcastle United have left themselves a lot of work to do. As a result, they might find themselves scrambling for solutions in a busy end to the period.
It is remarkable how much talent has left Newcastle United this summer. Any team in world football would have a tough time replacing them.
The Magpies have not helped themselves by bringing in players who clearly are not replace them. And for a team that finished 12th last season and have a new manager in place, that is not ideal.
If Newcastle United are not careful, they might end up in a relegation battle this season. So, the Magpies need to add some genuine quality to this squad immediately.
Newcastle United want PSG wonderkid
According to Africafoot, Ibrahim Mbaye is drawing the attention of several English clubs. Newcastle United, Chelsea and Aston Villa are said to be closely monitoring the PSG winger.
On the other hand, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Mbaye can leave Paris Saint-Germain with talks taking place. Liverpool spoke to his agent and the winger likes the project but the valuation made by PSG is currently deemed too high.
Now, if the transfer price is deemed to be ‘too high’ by Liverpool, do Newcastle United have a realistic chance of signing Mbaye from PSG? Would the player even be interested in a move?
One would imagine that playing time is going to play a huge part in Mbaye’s next move, if he does indeed leave. Otherwise, he is at a phenomenal club already.
Who is Ibrahim Mbaye?
A lot of Newcastle United fans have been left frustrated by the club trying to replace established stars like Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali by signing youngsters.
The results in pre-season have shown that this team looks a bit undercooked as of this point in time. So, does it make real sense to go after an 18-year-old talent in Mbaye?
In this case, it might. Mbaye is not just another talent. He is special. At 18 years of age, he has already made 42 appearances for PSG. And just think of the quality they have on those flanks. It certainly takes quality to break into that side.
Also, he has already scored four goals for the Senegal international team, including at the World Cup. So, it is not hard to see why Mbaye has caught the attention of so many top teams already.
