Newcastle United have seen a lot of talent leave through the exit door this summer. In return, they have made five signings of their own. But how many of them are ready to be starting games for the Magpies.
Only a select few, if you ask me. Most of them have been project signings. Do not get me wrong, in the long run, they can prove to be excellent players.
That being said, this is a team that finished 12th in the Premier League last season. They needed some ready-made quality to be brought in. On the contrary, they have lose their best players and replaced them with youngsters.
This could prove to be a recipe for disaster unless the right adjustments are made quickly. So, who will be the next Newcastle United signing? It looks like a winger is emerging as a probable candidate.
Newcastle United readying £35 million bid
According to a report from DZ Foot, Newcastle United are preparing a £35 million offer, consisting of a fixed £32 million and £3 million in bonuses. Feyenoord are said to be demanding £37 million, leaving only £2 million between the two clubs.
When the gap is that ‘insignificant’, for lack of a better term, it does fit when you talk about the finances involved in modern football, one expects a move to go through. Let’s see if that proves to be the case here.
The good news it that Moussa is believed to be keen on the move. And when that happens, more often than not, it makes things significantly easier for the club trying to sign them.
Would Moussa be a good signing for Newcastle? Why it might work
Moussa has proven himself to be an excellent winger when it comes to the Eredivisie level. In his two seasons in the Netherlands, he has scored 25 goals and provided 12 assists for Feyenoord.
That is an exceptional return for a winger. He has also established himself at the international level with Algeria, making 18 appearances. It might be time to take the next step at 24 years of age.
Newcastle United would represent that step for him. One would imagine that he would be brought in to be a starter from the get-go.
Another thing that works in his favour is that the new Newcastle United manager, Matthias Jaissle, is thought to have had his eye on Moussa even when he was coaching at Al-Ahli. So, he clearly rates the winger.
That should give him that added push, if he needs it, to make that move. Now, it comes down to the two clubs being able to find an agreement.
