Newcastle United’s three targets to replace Bruno Guimaraes named

The Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal transfer saga has come to an end. And the outcome will not surprise anybody. The Newcastle United captain is set to join the Premier League champions. That means the Magpies will need to find a replacement and as soon as possible, with less than a month left in the summer window.

Of course, that is easier said than done. Guimaraes is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. There is a reason Arsenal have spent £75 million on signing a player who is going to turn 29 a few months later.

Newcastle United have now announced Matthias Jaissle as their new manager, as expected. Now, it is time to add some ready-made quality talent to that squad as well.

Newcastle United eyeing three players to replace Bruno Guimaraes

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are working to find a replacement for Guimaraes. They have asked about Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha, Angelo Stiller at VfB Stuttgart and Luka Sucic of Real Sociedad, among others.

Nmecha had been first linked with Newcastle United during the first few weeks of the World Cup. But those rumours had gotten quiet over time and any interest had been played down in the media.

Now, the noise is back on though. And if Newcastle United want to replace someone of Guimaraes’ calibre, signing Nmeche would not be a bad idea.

He has proven himself at the highest level when it comes to club football. And he has represented Germany internationally as well. So, he does have the pedigree to come in and immediately be a starter.

The new Toni Kroos at St James’ Park?

Obviously, Nmecha is not the only German international being linked with the Magpies. Another is Stiller, who has been one of the best Bundesliga midfielders in recent times.

Stiller has earned comparisons with the legendary Toni Kroos for his style of play. If Newcastle United want somebody to control the game from midfield, they won’t find anyone better.

Also, it is believed that Stiller could be available for a significantly lower transfer fee than Nmecha, which could be something that sways the Magpies as well.

The one who has a history with Matthias Jaissle

The third name is that of Luka Sucic. Out of the three, he would most probably be the one who would draw the least excitement from the fans. But at the same time, it might be the most realistic move as well.

One advantage that he has over anybody else is his history with Jaissle. The two worked together at both FC Liefering and RB Salzburg.

So, Jaissle will know exactly what he would be getting from Sucic. If the new manager wants the Croatian international in his lineup, it is a request that must be heeded.
