‘Player from Uzbekistan will end up at Newcastle’ – Agent makes transfer claim

Newcastle United will be looking to strengthen their ranks all across the pitch this summer. Over the past few days, transfer speculation around the club has picked up pace as well.

They have already signed Bazoumana Toure and Sean Steur. Quite a few more could arrive at St James’ Park before the end of this transfer window.

One player Newcastle United tried to sign in the past and missed out on is Abdukodir Khusanov, who eventually ended up joining Manchester City. But it looks like the club chiefs were able to leave an impression on his agent with their behaviour. He has now predicted that a player from Uzbekistan will end up at St James’ Park in the future

According to Newcastle World, Khusanov’s agent, Gairat Khasbiullin, said while speaking with Sport Express when asked if any other clubs wanted the defender:

“Newcastle. The others may have shown interest, just like many other teams. It never got to the point of concrete talks.

“But we established a great rapport with the Magpies. I have great respect for their management, and they were the first to congratulate us on Khusanov’s move to City. We maintain a warm relationship with them. I think that someday a player from Uzbekistan will end up at Newcastle.”

Man City player’s agent praises Newcastle United

It is hard to imagine that the player will be Khusanov. He did endure a tough start at Manchester City but grew into the team as the season progressed. It is far more likely that some other Uzbek player could end up at Newcastle United someday.

They have a new manager in place though. It remains to be seen if Enzo Maresca takes a liking to the defender or whether he struggles for game time under the Italian manager.

If the latter happens, perhaps the door to a future move to Newcastle United could potentially open. But for now, that is not a realistic consideration.

Uzbekistan did take part in the 2026 World Cup. Could any of their other players have caught the eye of Newcastle United? We shall find out over the coming weeks and months, if so.

Newcastle need to be active with new signings

Newcastle United certainly do have a lot of areas where they need to strengthen this summer already. The club probably feel they have filled the void left behind by Anthony Gordon with the addition of Toure.

But Sandro Tonali’s gap still needs to be filled. There is little chance that 18-year-old Steur would be capable of performing anywhere near that level anytime soon.

Then there is the speculation surrounding Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazilian midfielder is believed to have agreed personal terms with Arsenal already.

Newcastle United might not be keen to part ways with Guimaraes. But when the noise reaches this level, it almost always ends with an exit.
