The Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal transfer chances are now starting to feel real. Mikel Arteta is believed to be a big fan. And one of these big Premier League clubs set their sights on someone, more often than not, they get the deal done.
Last summer, Alexander Isak joined Liverpool. This time around, Sandro Tonali has moved to Tottenham Hotspur. And it would come as no surprise if Guimaraes proves to be the next one on the way out the exit door.
Guimaraes enjoyed a standout World Cup campaign. And the noises coming out in the media have pretty much confirmed that he is interested in a move to Arsenal.
Are Newcastle United open to that idea though? Earlier, the Magpies appeared to have a hard stance that they would part ways with Guimaraes this summer. But it looks like that is softening already. In fact, there is already talk about what kind of fee it would take to make the move happen.
Fabrizio Romano confirms transfer fee Newcastle want to let Guimaraes join Arsenal
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Newcastle United could open doors to Guimaraes joining Arsenal for £90 million.
Of course, that is a significant fee to pay for any player, especially one who is already 28 years of age and will turn 29 in November.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal are open to making that kind of move for Guimaraes. The stance on the part of the Magpies is understandable though.
They have already pocketed around £170 million from the exits of Anthony Gordon and Tonali this summer. They do not need the money. So, the only reason they should entertain the idea is if the offer is too good to turn down, which a £90 million bid for a 28-year-old Guimaraes would be.
How would Newcastle United replace Bruno Guimaraes?
Guimaraes is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. And he proved that is one of the best on the planet with his run at the World Cup for Brazil.
Yes, many will only remember the penalty that he missed. But it also goes to show his importance to the team that he was the one to take it, ahead of someone like Vinicius Jr.
Overall, it was an excellent tournament as well. He provided four assists and was only behind Vinicius, when it came to Brazil’s run to the round of 16.
So, it would be a tough task for Newcastle United to replace him, especially as they are already trying to do the same with Tonali. They have signed Sean Steur of Ajax but the 18-year-old might be nowhere near ready yet.
