Photos emerge of Newcastle United target arriving to complete move

Newcastle United have completed a couple of moves so far in this summer transfer window. Goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen has been brought in from French Ligue 2 side Reims. And they recently signed Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim as well.

Jaouen is probably going to be the backup option, whether Nick Pope remains the starter or somebody else arrives to take up the spot this summer. On the other hand, Toure is viewed as the replacement for Anthony Gordon, who joined Barcelona this summer.

The Magpies still need more additions though. And it looks like their next signing has arrived in Newcastle in order to formally complete a move to the club.

The player we are talking about is none other than Sean Steur. To be honest, the club agreed to sign the Dutch midfielder almost out of nowhere.

So, Newcastle United deserve a ton of credit for keeping this under wraps until everything was pretty much over the line. Now, it is merely about completing the final steps.

Mike Verweij has posted pictures of Steur arriving in Newcastle United to complete his transfer. The contract is until 2031. It is a €24+3 million alongwith a 12% sell-on clause.

So, the move to Newcastle United is most definitely happening. From here on forward, only something being wrong with the medical could derail this, and that feels pretty unlikely.

Is Sean Steur the right signing for Newcastle?

There is no doubt that Steur has a ton of potential. But it would be a bit unrealistic to expect that he would come in and establish himself as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League.

Steur has put up some solid numbers at Ajax so far. He looks solid with the ball at his feet and equally good at winning duels without it.

So, Steur can be a bit of a complete midfielder in the middle of the park for the Magpies. But it is all for the long run. For now, he needs to be given time to develop his game. Let’s not forget that he only has 25 senior appearances to his name for Ajax.

As for what Newcastle United need right now, they need someone with a bit more experience who can come in and immediately take Tonali’s place in the starting XI. Of course, that would be an expensive operation.

There are not too many players in the world with the ability to replace someone of Tonali’s quality. So, it remains to be seen how Newcastle United go about it.
