Felix Nmecha’s decision on Newcastle United move confirmed

With both Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes looking like potential candidates to leave the club this summer, Newcastle United might need to bring in some quality in the middle of the park in return. Felix Nmecha of Borussia Dortmund has been linked with a move to St James’ Park.

Nmecha has been on the radar of Eddie Howe for some time. He was wanted in the summer of 2023 before the club ultimately ended up signing Tonali from AC Milan. Now, with the Italian seemingly on his way out, the Magpies could be about to revisit that interest.

Nmecha is currently away representing Germany at the World Cup. Any move might have to wait as long as they remain in the competition, with the knockout rounds now underway.

Newcastle United are not the only club seemingly interested in signing Nmecha this summer. He has high-profile suitors in Man Utd as well as his boyhood team, Manchester City, whose youth ranks he came through.

Felix Nmecha’s decision on summer move

It is unclear whether Newcastle United are serious about a move for Nmecha or not. But it looks like the German midfielder does not have a switch to St James’ Park on top of his wish list.

According to BILD (via Sport Witness), Newcastle United don’t have the best chance of signing Nmecha. He finds a move to either Manchester club more attractive.

Both Manchester United and Man City can offer Champions League football next season. Of course, having finished 12th in the Premier League, that is not on the table at Newcastle United.

So, a move to St James’ Park is seemingly not a priority for Nmecha at this point in time. Of course, things can change depending on how the interest of all these clubs develops. But ideally, one would hope that the Magpies are already looking at alternative targets.

Who could Newcastle United sign this summer?

Newcastle United have been linked with quite a few players lately. The most recent of these rumours involves Swiss international Johan Manzambi.

The 20-year-old is currently at SC Freiburg and is having a standout World Cup campaign. His three goals and one assist helped Switzerland top their group.

Other than Manzambi, Newcastle United have been linked with Lamine Camara of AS Monaco. He is also away at the World Cup right now, representing Senegal.

So, it appears that Newcastle United are looking to sign a midfielder in that £40-50 million bracket. It remains to be seen if they will be successful or not.
