Newcastle United want €80m Borussia Dortmund midfielder ahead of Man Utd

Newcastle United have done well to resist offers for Sandro Tonali so far. Tottenham Hotspur have made bids in the region of £80 million. Reliable sources have also confirmed that the player would be open to joining Spurs, even though they do not have European football on offer, just like the Magpies.

When things go this far, more often than not, a transfer does end up happening, no matter how one club tries to resist it. It happened last summer with Alexander Isak. It is more than likely that Tonali will be on his way out as well.

Unfortunately, that is not the end of Newcastle United’s problems. It is also believed that Arsenal are looking to sign Bruno Guimaraes.

If the Premier League champions do indeed come calling, it might turn Guimaraes’ head. So, it is about time that Newcastle United try to sign a few players of their own.

Newcastle United eyeing move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder also wanted by Man Utd

According to journalist Craig Hope, Newcastle United have Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha on their shortlist this summer. The 25-yr-old German international has a £73.5 million release clause but a deal could be negotiated for a lower transfer fee.

Newcastle United are believed to be long-time admirers of Nmecha. Manchester United have also been linked, but they are not thought to be near the top of their list.

Of course, Nmecha is currently away at the World Cup, representing Germany. And he has made his presence felt in the tournament.

Interestingly, he is not a stranger to English football. Nmecha came through the ranks at Manchester City’s youth academy but eventually, it was in Germany that he established himself in the senior game.

Felix Nmecha has established himself at club and international level

Nmecha’s rise just goes to show how deep Manchester City’s academy truly is. The likes of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Nmecha and several others could not even establish themselves as starters there. And currently, they are some of the most valuable talents in world football.

Of course, Newcastle United got a taste of that recently. Incidentally, Manchester City were involved. A £116 million deal for Elliot Anderson has been agreed.

Anderson came through the Newcastle United youth ranks. And unlike Palmer or Rogers, he was actually able to establish himself in the senior team.

Unfortunately, the club had to part ways with him to stay within PSR. Anderson has taken his game up several levels since then and Newcastle United must be regretting not parting with somebody else instead.
