- Nick Pope likely to leave Newcastle United
- Ipswich Town and Leeds United linked with Englishman
- Newcastle United to sign two goalkeepers this summer
Nick Pope has been a key player for Newcastle United over the years, but it appears likely that he will leave during the summer transfer window.
According to Chronicle Live, the Magpies have yet to receive an official offer for the England international, who is attracting interest from Leeds United and Ipswich Town.
Ewen Jaouen has agreed a deal to join Newcastle United, with the French goalkeeper expected to sign a long-term deal at the club.
And his arrival is set to push Pope as close to the exit door as he’s ever been at St James’ Park.
Leeds United yet to make offer for Nick Pope
Pope made a series of high-profile errors during the course of the 2025-26 campaign and lost his place to Aaron Ramsdale.
However, towards the back end of the season, he returned to the starting XI as the Southampton loanee didn’t cover himself in too much glory between the sticks.
Ramsdale will return to Southampton after his loan deal expires and Pope has been linked with a transfer, so the Magpies have a bit of work to do in their goalkeeping department.
The aforementioned report confirms that Leeds United are yet to make an approach for Pope, with the 34-year-old set to report for pre-season training next month as things stand.
He is wanted by Daniel Farke, but reliable sources at Elland Road have confirmed that no official offer has been made.
Writing on the wall for Pope at Newcastle United
Pope will undoubtedly be remembered for his performances at the club, but the 2025-26 season proved that he is one of the players who could be displaced from the starting XI.
Newcastle United endured an underwhelming campaign across all fronts and stumbled to a 12th-place finish. Most of their players were well below par, but the Englishman, in particular, endured a season to forget.
A deal to bring Jaouen to St James’ Park will be announced in due course, but the Magpies still need an experienced goalkeeper to start the season as the Frenchman is relatively inexperienced outside his home country.
Newcastle value Pope at around £5m. With his contract set to expire next summer, it remains to be seen if Leeds or Ipswich make a formal bid for him in the upcoming months.
However, the writing is on the wall for Pope as he prepares to call time on his eventful spell at the club.
