YouTube personality KSI has joined former Newcastle striker Andy Carroll by investing in Dagenham and Redbridge.
Caroll purchased a minority stake in the club last year, and now KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, has followed suit.
After the announcement, the forward said he’s looking forward to what’s next, eventually targeting promotion to the Premier League.
“This is just the start. I can’t wait for the journey.”
“When I joined the Daggers, I said it was about more than just playing. I’m excited to continue the work to restore this club to where it belongs.”
Andy Caroll joined Dagenham and Redbridge in July on a free contract after time in France at Amiens and Bordeaux.
Carroll made a name for himself at his boyhood club, coming through the academy under Glenn Roeder and eventually earning the coveted Newcastle number 9 shirt after an impressive season in the Championship in 2009/10.
After subsequent moves to Liverpool and West Ham, the striker returned to St James Park in 2019, but he would leave the club once again in 2021 after his contract expired.
The club were relegated from League 2 in 2016 after a stint in the football league and now find themselves in the National League South after they suffered relegation last season.
The Daggers currently sit in midtable, but they sit 6 points off the playoff positions.
In an interview with the club, KSI said he’s looking to bring the good times back to the club.
“It’s gonna be a rollercoaster for sure, but I hope to bring Dagenham and Redbridge back to the glory days.
“Once we reach that point, I want to go even further. Reaching the Premier League would be a dream.”
If those dreams are to be fulfilled, the club will be hoping Carroll is back soon. He has scored six goals in 12 games for the club but hasn’t been in the matchday squad since December.
