Eddie Howe was quick to shoot down any idea that Anthony Gordon would be leaving the club this summer, as they take on his former club, Everton.
In recent weeks, Gordon has been linked with moves to Liverpool and Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Gordon has 13 goals for Newcastle so far this season, with ten in the Champions League, making him the second-highest scorer in the competition this season, behind Kylian Mbappe.
Howe denied any rumours of his potential departure, suggesting it’s just noise.
“There is always rumour and speculation, and it comes with the territory of being a top player. You just have to get it out of your brain, and with our schedule, there is no time for distractions.”
The Magpies host Gordon’s former side, Everton, this weekend, as they hope to break into the Premier League top 10.
Newcastle come into the match off the back of a 3-2 win in the Champions League against Qarabag, which would see them land Barcelona in the Round of 16.
Their last outing in the Premier League saw them suffer defeat at the hands of Manchester City.
David Moyes’ side currently sit in 9th place and a point ahead of Newcastle. If the Blues find the result they are looking for, they could move as high as 7th.
Everton lost their previous game at The Hill Dickson Stadium to Manchester United, as Benjamin Sesko grabbed the only goal on the night.
In 2026, Everton have only won two games, but those have both come on the road.
Newcastle are also struggling with form at home, their last league win at St James Park, came on 7th January.
Howe is hoping that the game can be a turning point for Newcastle, as they want to get back to winning ways on home turf.
“We have to build our rhythm back at St James Park. It was important that we won on Wednesday night; it was the result we needed.
“Hopefully, we can build some rhythm and get a good feeling back at our home, which is needed.”
Newcastle made a statement when the two teams met in November, beating the Toffees 4-1.
A goal from Lewis Miley, Nick Woltemade and a double from Malick Thiaw gave the Toon Army a 4-0 lead, before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall pulled one back.
Jake O’Brien returns to Everton’s squad after serving a ban against Man Utd. However, Carlos Alcaraz will not travel with the team and is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks.
Jacob Ramsey is still a slight doubt as he’s recovering from a hamstring injury, and confirmed that Miley will still miss a few more weeks.
The game takes place at 3pm.
