Fans on social media want Newcastle to sign Aaron Ramsey after reports of interest

Newcastle United appointed Eddie Howe as their new manager and have sorted out their coaching staff for the remainder of the season, so the Magpies can turn their attentions to player recruitment.

Newcastle’s takeover by Public Investment Fund (PIF), PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media now makes them the richest club in Europe and one area they’re looking to strengthen in January is in midfield.

The Toon Army have been linked with Chelsea’s Ross Barkley and Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot, but Calciomercato say Aaron Ramsey is another player on their radar.

The 30-year-old has an uncertain future at Juventus after falling down the pecking order under Massimiliano Allegri, so he might be available when the winter transfer window opens. Fans on social media would love to see him in the North East too.

Ramsey joined Juve on a free transfer from Arsenal in 2019 and has gone on to make 70 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals with six assists, but he’s currently out of favour.

The Welsh international has featured in only five of 16 games this season, amassing 112 minutes of football from a possible 1440, so he might jump at the chance to leave.

Ramsey is valued at €10m-€15m (£8.6m-£12.8m) and Calciomercato say if Newcastle match his €10m-a-year (£8.6m-a-year) salary, they’ll be able to sign him. Fans have made it clear they’ll be pleased to see Ramsey at St James’ Park, but time will tell if the move happens.

In other news, fans on social media aren’t convinced as Newcastle are linked with Adrien Rabiot

matchday.
