Freddie Woodman posts video on IG as he recovers from injury

Freddie Woodman was left out of the matchday squad in Newcastle United’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United after picking up an injury in training, but he’s making a swift recovery if his Instagram story is anything to go by.

The 24-year-old has made five appearances in all competitions this season, conceding 12 goals and keeping one clean sheet. He was guilty of conceding soft goals in Newcastle’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester United, so his omission against Leeds looked related.

But Steve Bruce explained the reason behind Woodman missing out, saying he hurt himself diving on the ground during shooting practice, so Karl Darlow was brought in. Newcastle earned only their second draw of the season and conceded their fewest amount of goals in a game against Leeds, so might Bruce keep Darlow between the sticks?

The Magpies travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford on Saturday, September 25 and Woodman could be fit by then, so Bruce will have a decision to make on which goalkeeper to start. Newcastle are currently 18th in the Premier League with two points from a possible 15, so Bruce won’t want to change a winning team too much.
