Freddie Woodman makes emotional dog post ahead of Saturday’s clash with Man Utd

Freddie Woodman has been keeping fans updated on his whereabouts in recent weeks, posting pictures and videos on Instagram of his workout routine in the gym while sharing a snap from his last Premier League appearance – 2-2 with Southampton.

The 24-year-old had some bad news to share recently, however, posting two pictures on his Instagram story dedicated to dog Cassius who passed away. Woodman said farewell to his pet on Tuesday, though he didn’t specify what Cassius was suffering from.

Woodman has made four appearances for Newcastle this season, playing every minute in their 4-2 defeat to West Ham United (August 15), 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa (August 21), League Cup defeat to Burnley (August 25) and 2-2 draw with Southampton (August 28).

The former England U21 international will be preparing to face Manchester United on Saturday afternoon while Martin Dubravka remains sidelined with injury, so he’ll have to turn his attentions back to training after the sad news about Cassius.

Karl Darlow has also been sidelined, so Mark Gillespie should be named on the bench again.
