Jamal Lewis posts pic after national team win and shares vid of performance

Northern Ireland enjoyed a 4-1 win over Lithuania in Thursday’s World Cup qualifier and Jamal Lewis posted pictures and a video on his Instagram story to mark the occasion.

The 23-year-old played a full 90 minutes at the LFF Stadium and wanted to share some footage from the game that he was particularly proud of. Lewis can be seen high-fiving Shayne Lavery after the full-time whistle in one of the pictures and dispossesses his opponent in another.

Lewis is a regular for Northern Ireland but not for Newcastle. The Luton-born defender has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season. He was an unused substitute in the Magpies’ 4-2 defeat to West Ham United (August 15), 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa (August 21) and 2-2 draw with Southampton (August 28).

Lewis’ only outing came in the EFL Cup. He played a full 90 minutes in Newcastle’s penalty shootout defeat to Burnley (August 25). The left-back has made 27 appearances in all competitions since arriving at St James’ Park from Norwich City in September 2020, but he’s currently behind Matt Ritchie in the pecking order.
