Joe Willock posts on social media after Southampton stalemate

Newcastle United were robbed of a win over Southampton after conceding a late equaliser and Joe Willock was one of many who posted his disappointment on social media for how the game ended.

The 22-year-old played for 84 minutes at St James’ Park and thanked fans on his Instagram story for their support while insisting the players will build on the point against the Saints.

Willock joined Newcastle on a six-year deal from Arsenal this summer, having impressed on loan last season. The England U21 international has scored eight goals in 17 games from midfield and looks to have a bright future in the North-East.

Willock has made three appearances in all competitions for Newcastle this season, amassing 188 minutes of playing time. He’s a regular under Steve Bruce and will hope to steer the Magpies to winning ways after the international break.

A trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United awaits Newcastle as they seek their first win of the campaign. They’ve already lost to West Ham and Aston Villa while being knocked out of the League Cup by Burnley, so the Southampton setback will have hurt them.
