Jacob Murphy posts training picture on Instagram after extending deal

Newcastle confirmed on Wednesday that they had extended the contracts of Federico Fernández and Dwight Gayle, but Jacob Murphy is the latest to post on social media after signing a new long-term deal.

The 26-year-old didn’t set the place alight when it came to goal contribution last season, but he put in a lot of good performances regardless that convinced Newcastle to hand him a six-year contract.

Murphy posted a picture on Instagram to celebrate the news, expressing his delight to remain at St James’ Park. He also vowed to supporters that he’d give his all on the pitch and credited Steve Bruce for showing faith in him, so this move benefits all parties.

The talented wide-man then posted an update that showed him in pre-season training with Jamal Lewis, so he’s wasting little time improving his condition for the upcoming campaign.

Murphy joined Newcastle from Norwich City in 2017 and has gone on to make 72 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals with seven assists. He needs to improve in the final third but has impressed enough to earn a lengthy stay in the North-East.
