Newcastle fans want Karl Darlow dropped

Many Newcastle supporters have berated the “shocker” of a performance of Karl Darlow in the Magpies’ 3-1 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday night as their miserable form continued.

Steve Bruce’s side delivered an improved performance from the one against Chelsea, especially in the first half. However, they were ultimately unable to convert that into a positive result, and they have now suffered eight defeats in their last 10 Premier League games to leave them perilously close to the bottom three.

One player who struggled in particular was Darlow, with the goalkeeper having been beaten far too easily by Marcus Rashford’s low drive on his near post for the opening goal of the night. He also came off his line and perhaps made Daniel James’ finish a little simpler for the second goal and could do nothing to keep out Bruno Fernandes’ penalty for the home side’s third.

Darlow has been a consistent performer for the Magpies for most of the campaign and has averaged 3.5 saves per game in the league so far this term, with four in this match (Sofascore).

However, with Martin Dubravka breathing down his neck, Bruce has a massive decision to make in the coming matches regarding his choice of goalkeeper.

Newcastle fans call for Darlow to be dropped

Many Newcastle fans feel that it is now time for Dubravka to come back into the side, believing that whilst Darlow has been good this season, he has made too many errors over the last few weeks.
