Newcastle fans react over latest report on DeAndre Yedlin’s future

A number of Newcastle United fans have been reacting over the latest report that Turkish side Trabzonspor have made an offer to Magpies defender DeAndre Yedlin ahead of the January transfer window.

Yedlin is currently entering the final few months of his current £30,000-a-week deal at St James’ Park and the right-back had been struggling to make an impact on the side in the first few months of the campaign. However, injuries and other issues with the squad have seen the 27-year-old come back into the side for the last three Premier League games.

The defender has been an effective performer for the Magpies during the last three matches managing to average 1.3 interceptions, 1.7 clearances and 0.7 key passes per game (Sofascore). That suggests that Yedlin still has qualities to offer to Steve Bruce’s side and at the moment letting him would leave them relying on Jacob Murphy playing out of position.

Newcastle have been linked with a potential January move for Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams, and were Yedlin to leave it would free up a place in the squad for the defender. However, there are other teams including Southampton who are interested in the versatile right-back and therefore they might struggle to sign him.

It has now emerged that Trabzonspor are keen to secure the signing of Yedlin on a free transfer but they are hoping that Newcastle could release him early from his contract so that he can sign in the winter window, per CBS Sports, via Chronicle Live.

Many Newcastle fans were keen to suggest that he should be being kept hold of in January given he has come into the side and had a positive impact in the last few games. While there were one or two others who were more open to the idea of him leaving the club.
