Newcastle fans react to reported update on January transfer plans

A number of Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to reports that the Magpies may need to sell players in January before they are able to contemplate bringing in permanent reinforcements.

Steve Bruce has been keen to add another midfielder to his squad in the winter window, with the Magpies having missed out on adding either Ross Barkley or Ruben Loftus-Cheek to their side in the summer, per Chronicle Live. Matty Longstaff is also being linked with a January loan departure, with a number of Championship clubs interested in the 20-year-old.

The likes of Rolando Aarons, Christian Atsu and Achraf Lazaar are all surplus to requirements, but none of them could find a new permanent home in the summer. Also, Miguel Almiron is reportedly considering leaving the club to get more game-time in a more attack-minded system than what Newcastle have been playing.

It has now emerged that Newcastle would need to offload at least a couple of those players to raise funds and create space in their squad for further additions, per Chronicle Live. They have been linked with moves for Josh King, Jetro Willems and Phil Jones, as well as surprise links with Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli.
