Newcastle travel to Crystal Palace on Friday night looking to respond to back-to-back defeats against Southampton and Chelsea and get their season back up and running.
The Magpies’ last two matches have compounded frustrations among many supporters towards the style of play being produced under Steve Bruce so far this season. Newcastle managed just one shot on target in their defeat against Chelsea, which means they have now had the fewest attempts on goal of any side in the Premier League in 2020/21.
Despite the recent slump in form, Bruce still has the full backing of Mike Ashley for now. However, he will need to pick up a positive result against Palace to help ease some of the pressure starting to build on his shoulders. The Eagles themselves will also be looking to bounce back from their defeat at Burnley on Monday.
