Spanish defender Mikel Merino has returned to Spain with Real Sociedad in a permanent move.
The defender has joined the Spanish side for a fee of over £10 million after a disappointing spell in Newcastle.

Merino joined Newcastle originally on loan last Summer before making his switch permanent in October 2017.
He made 24 Premier League appearances for the Magpies, scoring once against Crystal Palace.
Sociedad are based only 50 miles from the defender’s home town of Pamplona, meaning that the move to Spain is very much a move home for the defender.
