Jamaal Lascelles has praised the current squad togetherness at Newcastle United after a tea party hosted by Sadio Haidara took over Twitter and Instagram last night.
Twitter erupted last night as fans found footage posted by DeAndre Yedlin on Instagram showing several first-team players drinking tea and playing pool at Haidara’s house. Fans reacted to the footage by thinking up their own ‘could have’ happened scenarios and, shortly after the video hit Twitter, #YedlinsTeaParty started trending.
Dan King , Managing Editor at Newcastle United, got the gang back together today to discuss the events that unfolded and the revelation that Haidara hosted the party, and not Yedlin, unfolded.
Haidara admitted that he, Yedlin, Vurnon Anita and Achraf Lazaar later read through the tweets, whilst out for dinner, prompting their tweet in response:
Twitter: Everyone’s invited #yedlinsteaparty @Vurnon @LazaarAchraf @MassadioHaidara https://t.co/4wfxQ4T6hj (@yedlinny)
Among the quotes on Dan’s article were some encouraging thoughts from Jamaal Lascelles on the current squad togetherness and the impact he believes it is having on and off the field.

“People sometimes say that there’s no friends in football, but this group of lads are really close,” Jamaal said.
We do a lot of things outside of the training ground and yesterday was an example of that.
“We’ve got a really tight group and I think it shows on the field. The team chemistry here is really good and it’s nice to see. We’re always laughing and joking and it’s just a positive vibe.
“There’s not one player who doesn’t get involved in the banter or the stuff outside the ground.”
The ‘positive vibe’ Jamaal speaks of has hade a huge impact on the players’ mentality and it translates onto the pitch. No more are fans made to watch cowardly, spineless performances from the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Daryl Janmaat and former captain Fabricio Coloccini. Instead, the players are willing to fight and give their all for the shirt, and it has been reflected in the results this season.
Fans will be pleased to hear Lazaar is serving up some Moroccan food at his house tonight. Keep an eye out for #LazaarsTeaParty.
