This afternoon’s reports coming from The Chronicle claim that Daryl Janmaat has broken two fingers in a fiery dressing room argument.
The Dutchman, who came off injured at half-time against Southampton, allegedly punched a wall in the away dressing room in anger at his part in the Saints’ second goal. The Netherlands international comically slipped trying to recover his position as Saido Mane played the ball in behind the Newcastle defence. Janmaat is currently being assessed for both injuries.
The away dressing room was a toxic place at half-time on Saturday, with Jamaal Lascelles being particularly vocal over the typically underwhelming performance.
Lascelles came on at half-time and was one of the only players to speak to the media post game – none of the so-called senior players performed any media duties.

Current captain Jonjo Shelvey hasn’t spoken to any media outlet post-match since his arrival at the club in January.
