NUFC talks with striker ‘well underway’
According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia, Newcastle United’s talks with Seydou Doumbia are well underway. The player was thought to be on the verge of moving to Fenerbahce, however talks broke down and the 28-year old Ivorian is now looking for a move to England.
Doumbia has been told he is free to fly to England to discuss the deal with Newcastle United, who have seemed desperate for a striker. Steve McClaren has looked to bolster his relegation threatened side during this window, making three signings.
Doumbia, who has thirty three caps for the Cote D’Ivoire, has 167 goals in 289 career appearances. He’s played for BSC Young Boys, CSKA Moscow and A.S. Roma. Doumbia has spent the first six months of this season on loan at CSKA Moscow, scoring five goals in thirteen appearances.
It is unclear as to why he’s leaving CSKA Moscow, however we’d love to see him at Newcastle!
