Benitez eyeing Iranian left-back
Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is looking to bolster his defence with a move for left-back Milad Mohammadi, according to Football Insider.
The Iranian plays for Akhmat Grozny in the Russian Premier League and has also reportedly attracted interest from Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic.
With Paul Dummett currently injured, Benitez is looking at defensive reinforcements as his side battle to stay in the Premier League, with Mohammadi a potential deputy to the left-back position.
The 25-year-old is out of contract this summer so could be tempted by a switch to the UK, with Newcastle keen to secure his services.
Mohammadi represented Iran at the World Cup in Russia and is currently playing at the Asian Games where his side are yet to concede a goal.
Known for his speed and agility, Mohammadi can also play in a more advanced wide position, which could give the Magpies more options going forward as well as in defence.
