After weeks of rumours regarding Andros Townsend’s proposed move to Newcastle United, Sky Sports understands that interest is coming to an end.
Newcastle had shown a major interest from the start of the transfer window, firstly hoping to seal a loan move and then bidding £10.5 million for the 24-year-old Tottenham winger. Both were rejected by the North London club who are apparently holding out for a bid in the region of £14 million for the England international.
With news of the increased price, Newcastle seem to have ended their interested in the out of favour Tottenham player, who has been playing for the Under-21’s in recent weeks.

This has opened the door to interest from Premier League rivals Watford, who look to be keeping tabs on Townsend until the window shuts on February 1st.
Townsend has only made 8 appearances for Spurs this season, subsequently has not featuring for Tottenham after being dropped by Mauricio Pochettino in early November. Reports suggested this was due to a training ground bust-up with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner.
With this news, Newcastle will surely look to capture the signature of another winger, with Scott Sinclair (according to Mail Online) and Sandro Ramires (reported by Goal.com) being suggested as potential targets.
