According to Wales Online, Newcastle United are set to battle it out with Swansea City and Manchester United for Benfica wonder-kid Renato Sanches.
The youngster is highly rated by the Portuguese club, with whom the player signed a new deal back in November. Sanches has made 13 appearances so far this season, two of which came in the Champions League. The contract contained a €45-million release clause.
Swansea are known to have sent scouts to watch him, whilst Manchester United have been reported to have a strong interest in the youngster. So far, it is thought Newcastle United are only tracking the player.
The 18 year old is enjoying a rich vein of form in his breakthrough season, scoring twice in his 13 appearances. Sanches won the SJPF Young Player of the Month award in December.
The midfielder has played 40 times for the Portuguese youth sides, ranging from Under-15 to Under-19.
