Reports in The Chronicle suggest Newcastle United midfielder Florian Thauvin has agreed personal terms with former side Marseille.
The once promising youngster would move on a temporary basis. It is still unknown as to whether the deal would be similar to Remy Cabella’s clause. Cabella left Tyneside after just one season, with Marseille signing the attacking midfielder on loan with a compulsory purchase clause after a certain number of appearances.
Thauvin has had very little game time at St. James’ Park, not making an appearance since the defeat at Watford. The player is rumoured to have become disillusioned at the lack of first team football, with the potential signing of Andros Townsend pushing Thauvin down the pecking order.
Newcastle are known to be looking for a pacey winger, with the London Evening Standard reporting an initial 6 month loan deal, with the option to buy.
With Sissoko and Perez performing so well out wide, fan favourite Rolando Aarons returning from injury and a possible new signing, it seems inevitable Thauvin will move on.
