According to The Independent, Newcastle United have turned down the opportunity to sign former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato.
The current Sao Paulo striker is looking for a move to Europe, after falling out of favour with national team coach, Dunga. Since moving back to Corinthians from AC Milan, Pato has scored 28 goals in 89 appearances.
The former prodigy has 27 caps for Brazil, scoring 10 in the process. However Newcastle United are reported to have rejected a proposal to sign him in this window.
Pato is reportedly a target for other Premier League sides such as Chelsea and Liverpool. He was linked with Manchester United in the summer as previously reported on ReadManUtd.
Pato has won seven individual awards since 2006; including the Brazil U-20 Championships Top Scorer as well as the MVP award in the same tournament, the Golden Boy award and the Serie A Young Footballer of the Year in 2009.
