Today Newcastle United announced that two of their young talents, Adam Armstrong and Gael Bigirimana, had decided to extend their loan deals with League One side, Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena. This means that the pair will stay in Coventry for the remainder of the season.
18 year old, Adam Armstrong, has already scored 16 goals during his time at the club, including a hat-trick in the Sky Blues 5-0 rout of Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road. He has made 19 appearances for the Magpies, but has decided to continue his progression with the lower league side, where the delighted City boss has said to the Sky Blues media:
We’re delighted to have Adam here until the end of the season as he has had a fantastic impact during his time at the club. He is progressing well and we are delighted that Newcastle feel that he is in the best environment for his future development.
Armstrong’s loan period ends on the 30th May, and will include the play-off final, should the Sky Blues reach it
The other player who has made the decision to continue with his time at the Ricoh, is Gael Bigirimana. The 22 year old midfielder joined the club on an emergency loan last November, which went on to be extended earlier this month. Now though, the Newcastle man has moved onto a standard loan which will terminate on Thursday, 30th June, at which point he will return to St James’ Park and rejoin the Magpies.
Mowbray said to the City media “Gael has excellent technical ability and has really settled into the environment since coming back, providing us with another crucial option in midfield.”

In his five appearances for the club, Bigirimana is still yet without a defeat to his name, as Coventry City continue their chase for promotion.
